A Woman Worth Following

This is the last portion on the lesson of a Woman worth following. I pray as you disciple women and look for women to model your lives after that we take a close look at the attributes of these women.
Read Luke 23:55-24:12
I just love that they are referred to as the women, the committed the few the fearless. It’s like the commercials for the Marines, the few the proud. Luke makes sure we realize that these are the women from Galilee. It states that they saw where He was laid and then went to prepare the burial spices and perfumes. They were so committed to Jesus. Note that they prepared well so that they could still rest on the Sabbath, they weren't so religiously focused that they didn't rest. Rather they obeyed the commandment which Jesus I’m sure modeled for them in His frequent times of getting away and resting. These women then go to the tomb and see that the stone is rolled away but they are convinced that Jesus was laid here so they go into the tomb to see for themselves. They don’t see him but rather they see 2 men (angels) and that causes them to be afraid. But they are reminded of the teaching of Jesus when they are gripped with fear and doubt. They in the joy of the Lord and the confidence that what Christ had spoken had come true they went and reported it to the 11 disciples. They were the first evangelists after the resurrection of Christ. The response of 10 of the disciples shows you that they still didn't believe but Peter believed the words of the women and went to see it for himself. There words made Peter go check for himself and he walked away marveling. Do your words about Christ make people go look in the word for themselves and then they walk away marveling at the power of God?
Read Acts 1:14- this is the last book written by Luke.
We see here that the women again were awaiting the arrival of the Holy Spirit as promised by Christ. They were so convinced by what they had experienced with Christ that they were ready to be witnesses for Him. It states that they were praying. This is the most important spiritual act we can do as believers.
What made them follow Christ? They heard him preach, they witnessed his authority
What is admirable about their lives? They were committed to Christ
What made others follow them? Their testimony of what they had witnessed firsthand.

Here are the 6 attributes I noticed when studying the Samaritan woman and "The women".
  1. They shared their testimony of what they had experienced with Christ
  2. They were committed to Christ
  3. Their was tangible evidence that they followed Christ (FRUIT)
  4. They rested in the midst of working for the Lord
  5. They remembered the WORD OF GOD in the midst of despair
  6. They became witnesses for Christ
